About me

Hello, I'm Helen, an Integrative Psychotherapist with 11 years experience working in the NHS.

I am an accredited Relational Psychotherapist and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.

Starting therapy can feel daunting. My aim is to provide a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you feel safe to talk openly, at your own pace.

Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work, as I believe meaningful change happens when you feel heard, understood and accepted.

Whether you are struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, relationship difficulties or feeling overwhelmed by life's challenges, I will work alongside you to help you gain insight, build resilience and make meaningful and lasting improvements to your mental, emotional health and wellbeing.

Seeking support is a courageous first step, and you don't have to face things alone. Together, we can work towards helping you feel more like yourself again and create positive, lasting change.

How I work

You can email, text or call me to discuss your needs and what has brought you to therapy. We will arrange a time to have a telephone discussion initially. If you are happy we will book an appointment to meet.

During our first appointment we will work together to identify the problem or issue that you would like help with and I will ask you about the problem(s), how they trouble you, and when and how they started, as well as any other treatment or support you have had or are having now. This may take one or two meetings. At the end of this period we will agree on your goals for therapy, decide if I am likely to be able to help you, and if you would like to continue working with me. You will be under no obligation to continue working with me.

I have been trained in several therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Relational Psychotherapy and Dialectal Behavioural Therapy (DBT) amongst others. Whilst there are times when I will draw on an integrative approach there will be instances where a specific evidence-based approach such as a structured CBT or DBT protocol will be most appropriate. In such cases I will apply that model of therapy in its standard form to ensure the best therapeutic outcome. You will receive a thoughtfully tailored approach to your difficulties, goals and aspirations.

I provide short and long-term therapy and we can agree what will suit your needs, goals and aspirations best.
